Baby Battering and How to Cope with it

Children are said to be angels. 21st century is termed as the post-modern century. Revolution took places in almost all fields except humanity. We progressed in all scientific fields leaving humanity unnoticed. Child Abuse is referred as Physical, mental, sexual or emotional torture to children. Child abuse is not only the problem of under developed societies. It is a widespread crime which occurs in almost all ethical, cultural, visionary and religious societies.

Children are basically the message we send to time which we would not see. Children are the pillars of any nation. Today Child labour is the most common example of child abuse. The basic education of children is free all over the globe but the case is different in 3rd world countries. The poor families invest their children’s future in child labour instead of education. They feel ease in gaining a little amount for the sacrifice of their future. The best way to destroy a nation is to snatch books from their youth. The 3rd world countries must spread awareness.

Sexual abuse is also referred as child molestation. It is the leading problem in 21st century. It is a form of child abuse in which an adult uses a child for his desire. Children are forced to do unethical activities just for temporary lust. It can occur in a school, house, work place (child labour) etc. Child pornography is advancing day by day. Sexual child abuse is becoming more of a business. Child marriage is also a kind of sexual child abuse. Parents must be held responsible. Effects of sexual abuse include anxiety, depression, hopelessness, post-traumatic stress disorder etc. Men are more indulged in sexual child abuse than women. According to a survey, the prevalence of sexual child abuse for female is 19.7% where as 7.9% is for men.  Sexual abuse by family member results in psychological trauma. Such incidents ruin their life. They lose hope in themselves. They remain silent for their dignity. Their silence strengthens such activists.

Emotional abuse is also a type of child abuse. It refers to humiliating and ridiculing a child. It includes yelling, name-calling, trying to control their life etc. It is not observed as an issues but it is devastating for a child. The particular child experiences some short and long term effects. Short-term effects include confusion, fear, shame, nightmares etc. Long-term effects include anxiety, guilt, insomnia etc.

Emotional neglect is advancing day by day. Busy routine is overtaking duties. Parents are unable to give proper time and care to their children which results in lack of confidence. It’s due to the less attention and affection of parents towards children. Such children are termed as selfish if they try to get their needs. Parents must pay attention towards their children when they’re under development.

Physical abuse is the most common child abuse. It is the act of assault by parents, care-takers, family members and strangers. This develops stiffness and hate in ones heart. It creates angers and hypertension in children. These acts force children to disobey others. Also like others, physical abuse has short and long term sufferings. Short-term suffering includes immediate pain, hostility, anxiety, aggression, poor social skills etc. Long-term effects include depression, low self-esteem, permanent damage to any organ etc. Physical abuse includes cuts, fractures, bruises, burns etc.

Children must report the incident immediately to a trusted person. We must highlight such incidents and memorable punishments must be given to set an example. Government as well as all of us must pay attention towards child abuse. It will lead us towards destruction. Government must make strict policies against culprits of child abuse. It must be entitled as a heinous crime. Parents must also give appropriate time to children. Schools must contribute in character building of children.

We can deny our experience but our body remembers.
