How does it feel living in a male dominant society?

This is a man’s world, which is inculcated in my blood and I am unable to repudiate it. I heard it when I was born and till now, I have to believe this statement as everyone is claiming that I have my own rights and wish to do whatever I want. Male dominant society means a society that thinks and wishes only for the benefits of men in every fields and areas of life. They are allowed to live their lives at their own terms and free of will.

As women, we have to struggle a lot in this patriarchal society for our existence. Women dependence on men has a long history as first they buried them alive because they were not considered humans. Secondly, women depend on our men for shelter and protection. Men are supposed to do outdoor tasks and women have to stay inside the house. It is to show women as weak and mere gender that is labeled under the term ‘protection’. Simply to put in words, when there are no opportunities for women how they can emerge as strong and independent?

Mary Wollstonecraft’s in her essay in 1792 has criticised upon the stereotypes related to women. Women have given some rights after the emergence of Feminist movement. But did this movement suffice? Somehow women writings are being admired and praised by men. But there is a void that needs to be filled. This void exists in the personality of women that has been shaped by men and is not going to be filled at any cost. It feels like someone has given a bird a chance to fly at the same time they have cut the wings..
21st Century is said to be the modern time, where women are allowed to keep their own priorities and choices. ‘Men’ dominate in all fields and women works as subordinates. They consider that women have not the courage to have such a burden, still being treated as a mere object.

The feeling of women in a male dominant society is that it allows us to be ourselves but when the want to, they are welcomed with a big NO. Women have the habit of accepting things as they are. If the male member said do this in that way, they think themselves as sheep are being thrown in a four-walled area. Now question arises that they have been fooled for a long time? They are being fooled by all the men they have in their lives. Women at every age need a male as her protector that makes her feel uncomfortable in her own living. Where there are independent successful women there is no support of male member!
We are confined in many boundaries that are mentioned as necessary. If male members trust women and allow them to do whatever they want, they will surpass in all field of life. I’ll end with Maya Angelou’s famous poem which completely agrees with the notion:

I’ve got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I’ve got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.
Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.
Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
‘Til I can rest again.
Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.
Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You’re all that I can call my own.
